Kumusta Kaibigan! 👋

We're a Filipino family living in Spain, cooking our way through homesickness one recipe at a time.

Our Epic Journey

Ulampinoy started as our digital recipe diary and somehow evolved into a full-blown family project where we cook together, learn from each other, and share our culinary adventures one recipe at a time.

ORIGIN STORY

The Manila-Madrid Connection

Once upon a time, we migrated to Spain and realized that decent Filipino food was rarer than parking spaces in Madrid. Like millions of Filipinos around the world, we're part of the beautiful diaspora that carries our culture, traditions, and most importantly, our recipes wherever we go.

There's something beautifully full-circle about the Manila-Madrid connection – centuries of shared history through colonial ties and cultural exchange, and now here we are, modern Filipinos in Spain sharing our heritage through kitchen stories and YouTube videos. So we did what any sensible Filipino family would do: we started cooking everything ourselves

So we did what any sensible Filipino family would do: we started cooking everything ourselves and documenting it obsessively. What began as a simple food journal quickly transformed into our YouTube cooking channel – a family project that serves as journal and a way to bond.

Every recipe comes with stories, memories, and the occasional kitchen disaster (which we may or may not include in the final cut). You can find all our video recipes organized by category, or if you're scratching your head wondering what "gata" or "patis" means, our handy glossary has got your back with translations and explanations of Filipino cooking terms.

OUR MISSION

More Than Just Recipes

We're building the ultimate Filipino family cookbook, one video at a time. Our goal is simple: create a collection of tried-and-tested recipes with our own family twist, presented in a way that won't put you to sleep (unlike your typical cooking show).

Beyond recipes, we share discoveries, lessons learned, random kitchen wisdom, and whatever else catches our fancy in our articles section. Think of us as your Filipino cooking uncles and titas who happen to live in Spain and know way too much about proper rice-to-water ratios.

What's in a Name?

If you're wondering about the name "Ulampinoy," it's a portmanteau of "ulam" (Filipino for viand/main dish) and "Pinoy" (colloquial term for Filipino). Yes, we're that creative with our naming conventions.

UlamPinoy YouTube Stats
